The Vaccinium Planning Meeting was held at the Laureate Center on April 23-24, 2017 at the North Carolina Research Campus, located in Kannapolis, NC. An international group of 30 leading blueberry and cranberry researchers convened to discuss the future of blueberry and cranberry research. The meeting, hosted by NC State University’s Plants for Human Health Institute assistant professor, Dr. Massimo Iorizzo, was a culmination of their collaborative efforts in successfully surveying U.S. and Canadian blueberry and cranberry growers to gain direct feedback on the industries’ needs.

After two days of intensive discussions, the team was able to make extensive progress to move the project to the next step. They collectively identified research objectives that address some of the major stakeholder needs and will move forward with a proposal for a USDA-SCRI grant application. For more information about the meeting and outcomes please contact Dr. Massimo Iorizzo.
